Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Yugalify ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, shares and protects your information when you use the Yugalify mobile app (the "App"). The App is a private space for two partners to chat, write letters, share moods, save memories and grow together.

By using the App you agree to this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. Information we collect

Information you give us

Information collected automatically

• Device and app information: device model, operating system version, app version and a push-notification token, so we can deliver notifications and tell you when an update is available.
• Usage information: basic records of activity inside the App, such as streaks and when you completed a daily activity, so that features like streaks and couple stats work.
• Technical logs: error and diagnostic data kept by our service providers to keep the App secure and reliable.

Device permissions

• Camera: only used to scan your partner's pairing QR code, and to take photos you choose to add.
• Photos: only the photos you pick yourself through the system photo picker. We do not scan your gallery.
• Notifications: to tell you about new messages, letters, mood updates and reminders. You can turn this off in your device settings.
• Phone number hint: on Android the App may offer the phone numbers on your device to make sign-in faster. Nothing is read unless you pick a number.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, call logs or SMS messages.

2. What your partner can see

The App is built for two people. Once you pair with your partner:

• Shared with your partner: your name and profile photo, your relationship details, chat messages, letters, today's mood, milestones, memories, timeline posts, meal plans, boards, and your answers to shared activities.
• Private to you: your gratitude journal and your full mood history. Your partner only sees the mood you set for today.

3. How we use your information

• To create your account, verify your phone number and keep you signed in.
• To pair you with your partner and show each of you the content you share.
• To send notifications you have allowed, such as new messages, letters and reminders.
• To provide features like streaks, couple stats, weekly challenges and daily questions.
• To show you important notices, such as a required app update.
• To provide support, prevent abuse and fraud, and keep the App secure.
• To understand how the App is used so we can improve it, using aggregated information where possible.
• To comply with the law.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your private messages or letters for advertising.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed to run the App:

• Google Firebase (Google LLC): sign-in, database, file storage, cloud functions and push notifications. Your data is stored on Google Cloud servers.
• MSG91 (Walkover Web Solutions Pvt. Ltd.): to deliver the OTP text message to your phone number.
• Google Play: to check for and install app updates.
• Legal and safety: when the law requires it, or when we believe in good faith that it is needed to protect someone's safety, our rights, or to investigate abuse.
• Business transfers: if the App is merged with or sold to another company, your information may move to the new owner under this same policy.

A small number of authorised team members may access account data when it is needed for support, safety or fixing a technical problem.

5. Storage and security

Data is sent over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored with Google Firebase, which encrypts data at rest. Access rules make sure only you, and your partner where content is shared, can read your data. No system is completely secure, so please keep your phone and SIM protected.

Your data may be stored or processed on servers outside your country. Where that happens, we rely on our providers' safeguards to protect it.

6. How long we keep data

We keep your information while your account is active. When you ask us to delete your account, we delete or anonymise your personal information within 30 days, except where we must keep some of it to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes or prevent fraud. Backups are cleared on their normal schedule.

Content you shared with your partner, such as chat messages and letters, belongs to the shared couple space. When you delete your account, we remove your profile and personal data, and we delete or anonymise your shared content.

7. Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, including under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you can:

• See and update your profile and relationship details in Profile & Settings.
• Ask for a copy of your personal data.
• Ask us to correct or delete your data, or delete your account using Delete My Data in the App or by emailing us.
• Withdraw consent, for example by turning off notifications or camera access in your device settings.
• Nominate someone to exercise these rights for you if you die or become unable to.
• Raise a complaint with us, and then with the relevant data protection authority if you are not satisfied.

To make a request, contact us from the App using the phone number linked to your account. We may need to confirm it is you before acting on a request.

8. Children

The App is meant for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a minor has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Not a substitute for therapy

Yugalify offers activities and prompts for couples. It is not medical, psychological or counselling advice. If you or your partner are in danger or need help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make important changes, we will tell you in the App or by other means before they take effect. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest version.

11. Contact and grievance officer

If you have questions or complaints about this policy or your data, please contact us through the Yugalify app.

We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days.
